  • Colourstrings Music Classes

Colourstrings Music Classes include: Singing, Dance, Listening, Percussion, Musical Games & for the older classes Musical Notation.

Colourstrings Music Classes help develop: Co-ordination, concentration, listening, co-operation, improvisation and imagination.

Colourstrings Method: Colourstrings was devised in the early 1970’s by two Finish brothers, Geza & Csaba Szilvay, who had studied Kodaly’s method of music training in Hungary. One is a cellist the other a violinist. Their focus was to make instrumental teaching approachable for very young children and so devised a method which uses lots of pictures and imagery. They then realised that their was so much that they could teach children even from birth and in music classes separate from their instruments, so they devised a progressive method for all ages (from birth) so that when a child starts to learn an instrument they can learn a lot of the same pieces on their instrument that they have been learning in their musicianship classes.

Comment from parent of past pupil: Beautiful times spent singing and dancing together with my children. I enjoyed it as much as them – it’s encouraged us all to sing more at home and added to our repertoire. I’d recommend it to anyone with young children – it really brightens up the week.

Cofton Hackett Brownies welcomes all girls from 7 to 10 years old for nonstop fun, learning and adventure.
Brownies follow a programme in unit meetings, where they do fun activities, play games and earn badges all supported by our trained volunteers.
Your child will earn badges and learn new skills and knowledge in many different areas such as camping, communication, cooking, performing, walks around our local area, trips out to special places, learn about the environment and MANY MANY other things. Also if she wants to take guiding home with her, there’s lots of interest badges to do that don't need to be done at unit meetings, like the collecting, space, performing and inventing badge.

During sessions the girls split into small groups called sixes for many of the activities and, as your child gets older, she’ll have a chance to become the Seconder and Sixer whom are the leaders, of a six.

If your daughter is looking for something different to do, Brownies is the place for her.

If you would like to register your daughters interest in joining please email Janet (Brown Owl) and/or go to https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-a-child/ and register her for Cofton Hackett Brownies.
